This is a high-quality Juniper Networks Compatible 40G QSFP+ to 4 SFP+ Passive DAC (Direct Attach Cable) Copper cable. It is a cost-effective solution that provides high bandwidth and transmission rates over short distances. QSFP+ (Quad Small Form-factor Pluggable Plus) Cable Assemblies are suitable for very short distances and offer a highly cost-effective way to establish a 40-Gigabit link between QSFP+ ports of 4 SFP+ switches within racks and across adjacent racks. QSFP+ to 4x SFP+ copper DAC cable is a 40GBase QSFP+ hybrid passive cable. A side is a QSFP+ connector, B side is 4x SFP+ connectors. Each DAC cable is 100% optically inspected and tested for compatibility before shipping.

A direct attach cable, short for DAC cable, is a type of factory terminated twinax cable that connects directly into transceivers and can be brought in several lengths for short distances of up to 15 meters. These cables consist of fixed lengths of shielded copper coaxial or fiber optic cable with single pluggable transceivers at either end, that have varying gauge values between 24AWG and 30AWG. The DAC cable may be capable of interconnection up to 15 meters using a twinaxial copper cable and reaches 100 meters over an active optical cable at 10Gbps, 40Gbps or higher.

DAC Cables can be either passive or active. The passive direct attach cable has no electrical components, which results in less power consumption. Active direct attach cables are composed of electrical components, so they use more power, but gain more distance and increase signal strength. Active cables are more expensive and consume more power when in use compared to passive cables.
