MPO Fiber Optic Cassettes
Add density at the patch panel without adding install time. Our MPO cassettes are factory-terminated and tested, converting high-fiber-count connections into individual ports that drop into compatible panels and reconfigure without re-splicing fiber.
Start Your QuoteHow MPO Cassettes Fit Into a Fiber Network
An MPO cassette is an enclosed, factory pre-terminated fiber optic module that converts a high-density, multi-fiber MPO connection on its rear into individual simplex or duplex connections on its front panel. Its main benefits include faster and cleaner installation since there is no on-site splicing required, along with higher port density and organized cabling in limited rack space. They also offer easier scalability and maintenance, as cassettes can be swapped or reconfigured without disturbing the backbone trunk, which supports smooth migration from 10G to 40G, 100G, or 400G speeds.
Cassettes are commonly used in:
- Hyperscale and enterprise data center backbones
- Telecom central offices and metro fiber hubs
- Campus and building backbone distribution
- Colocation and multi-tenant facilities
- Storage area networks (SANs) and carrier-neutral facilities
MPO Cassettes We Offer
We carry three cassette lines, each built around a different panel ecosystem and connector mix. All are factory-terminated and tested before they ship.
Ultraplex™ Cassettes
Up to 64 fibers per cassette, with LC, SC, MDC, or SN front connectors for maximum port flexibility. Fits up to four cassettes per 1U in Ultraplex™ patch panels.
Explore Ultraplex Cassettes →Optiwave™ Series MPO Cassettes
A flexible LGX-style cassette supporting LC, SC, FC, or ST connectors. Built with premium Corning fiber in a durable steel housing.
Explore Optiwave Cassettes →NexaCore™ HD Series Fanout Cassettes
MPO to LC cassettes with a slim, high-density design built for hyperscale and colocation environments. Plug-and-play installation into UltraHD™ patch panels.
Explore NexaCore HD Cassettes →Ultraplex™ Cassettes
Ultraplex™ cassettes break out MPO trunk fiber to SC, LC, MDC, or SN connections within Ultraplex™ patch panels. Each cassette is available in OS2, OM3, or OM4 fiber mode and occupies a single slot in an Ultraplex™ enclosure, with up to four cassettes fitting in a 1U panel.
LC and SC connectors use duplex adapters on the cassette front. MDC is available in triple or quad layouts, and SN is quad only.
- Compatible with all Ultraplex™ Series patch panels
- High-density MPO breakout, up to 64 fibers per cassette
- Tool-less, drop-in installation
Optiwave™ Series MPO Cassettes
Optiwave™ MPO cassettes are breakout modules that transition an MPO to standard LC, SC, FC, or ST connectors on the cassette front. They are pre-terminated and factory-tested, so there's no field splicing required.
Built on a standard LGX-style footprint, Optiwave™ cassettes integrate into compatible patch panels and enclosures in either horizontal or vertical orientation, and use Corning fiber inside a steel housing.
- LGX-compatible design, horizontal or vertical mounting
- Flexible port configurations, rear MPO/MTP® interface
- Pre-terminated fanout assembly
NexaCore™ HD Series Fanout Cassettes
NexaCore™ HD cassettes are engineered for high-performance fiber termination in ultra-dense environments. They feature an MPO rear interface and LC front interface, giving a compact transition from trunk cable to individual fiber ports.
The plug-and-play design allows quick installation and reconfiguration, and cassettes are compatible with NexaCore™ fiber housings and UltraHD™ patch panels.
- Slim cassette design for high-density applications
- Rear MTP®/MPO interface, LC front interface
- Pre-terminated fanout assembly
Frequently Asked Questions
A cassette is a factory-terminated module with fiber inside it that converts an MPO/MTP® connection to individual connectors. An adapter plate is a mechanical alignment sleeve with no fiber inside; it simply passes MPO-to-MPO or connector-to-connector straight through.
Ultraplex™ cassettes are built for Ultraplex™ Series patch panels. Optiwave™ cassettes use a standard LGX-style footprint compatible with LGX-style panels and enclosures. NexaCore™ HD cassettes are built for UltraHD™ patch panels and NexaCore™ fiber housings.
Yes. MTP® is US Conec's branded version of the MPO connector, built to the same interface standard, so it mates directly with MPO cassettes.
