ST/UPC Bulkhead Female to Female Attenuator - 1550nm
This ST bulkhead female-to-female fiber optic attenuator provides a fixed level of attenuation by replacing a standard fiber optic bulkhead adapter at the patch panel. It is designed to deliver stable, precise signal reduction while maintaining reliable connectivity in high-performance optical networks.
Excess optical power can saturate a receiver and degrade system performance. Fiber optic attenuators are used to reduce signal strength and ensure optimal operating levels. In general, multimode systems do not require attenuators because multimode sources, even VCSELs, rarely have enough power to saturate the receiver. Attenuators are more commonly required in single-mode systems, particularly in long-haul and DWDM network applications where optical power balancing is critical.
This ST bulkhead female to female fiber optic attenuator utilizes a doped optical fiber filter to achieve attenuation. The female-to-female type enables them to accept standard ST type fiber optic connectors on each side of the bulkhead. Female-to-female bulkhead attenuators combine adapter functionality with built-in attenuation, making them a compact and efficient solution for controlled signal management in telecommunications, testing environments, and enterprise fiber networks.
Bulkhead female to female fiber optic attenuators are ideal for use in fiber optic patch panels, instrument front panels and other applications that require a fixed level of attenuation and easy connectivity.
