Outside Plant (OSP) Fiber Optic Cable refers to fiber optic cable installed outside of a building or facility. Unlike standard fiber optic cables, OSP fibers are engineered to endure the rigors of installation and the challenges associated with exposure to external environments. Given their deployment outside the confines of a facility, OSP fibers must withstand harsh conditions including extreme weather, animal activity, debris accumulation, and exposure to water. These demanding conditions necessitate specialized construction of fiber optic cables tailored for outdoor use.
